Global health


IDSA strives to advances evidence-based policies and practices to strengthen U.S. leadership and responses to global HIV, tuberculosis, pandemic preparedness and response and emerging global ID issues, including AMR globally. IDSA advocates for sufficient U.S. investment in global infectious diseases responses and research and promotes the voices of IDSA expert members to inform multilateral and national global health policies. IDSA is a trusted leader in shaping and advancing international and national policies and investments in ID Issues.

IDSA’s global health advocacy efforts

HIV/AIDS
- Member of Global AIDS Policy Partnership
- Sits on the Coordinating Group of the GAPP, a coalition of diverse organizations dedicated to expanding and improving U.S. global HIV programming
- Advocates for stronger U.S. leadership in the global response to HIV, including advocating for increased and sustained funding for PEPFAR and the Global Fund and engaging with U.S. agencies to promote human rights and evidence-based policies and practices

Pandemic preparedness & response
- Advocates for increased & sustained funding for CDC global health protection and USAID global health security programs
- Works in coalition with the Global Health Council and diverse partners to advocate for increased & sustained funding for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response and global health security programming at CDC, NIH and USAID

Tuberculosis
- Serves on the Secretariat of the TB Roundtable, a coalition of organizations committed to strengthening U.S. leadership in efforts to end TB globally
- Advocates for increased and sustained U.S. funding for USAID and Global Fund TB programming and promotes accelerated development of equitable access to new tools to eliminate TB
